When Teaching meets Blockchain
With over 25 years in education, a dedicated teacher that has become a guiding force, blending her passion for teaching with a profound commitment to blockchain and social mining. Her journey has led her to discover new ways of learning, teaching, and connecting through Social Mining, a movement reshaping our views on work, community, and the digital economy.
Her approach to Social Mining mirrors her teaching style: learning by doing and supporting each other. Through Social Mining, she joined a community that’s changing how people earn, learn, and connect in the digital world. It’s allowed her to combine her passion for teaching with blockchain, helping others understand new technology and prepare for the future.
First at a university and now through her own educational consultancy and as a full-time K-12 teacher. Her journey into Social Mining began through the encouragement of her close friend.
‘’My name is Zoe, and I've been a teacher since 1996, and it pretty much defines me as a person. I love to help people, she shared.
‘’Right now I run my company, am a fulltime teacher at a K-12 school and most importantly, have been a Social Miner. Social Mining found me around the same period, when my dear Ipek convinced me to give it a try because she believed my personality is suitable for its basic tenets”.
Building Knowledge Through Community
For her, Teaching requires a natural openness to learning, adapting, and connecting with others, a skill set that Social Mining also embodies.
‘’As a teacher, you must be a communicator, open to learning and constantly changing to meet the needs and demands of your students and the wider educational ecosystem.’’
‘’Social Mining is also all about communication and building each other up, as it is what the name implies, a social structure where we can only succeed together! She added.
Teaching Skills Put to the Test
For her, teaching and Social Mining aren’t as different as one might think. Both demand patience, adaptability, and clear communication. In Social Mining, where writing, research, and receiving feedback are daily activities, Ms Zoe found her teaching philosophy reinforced.
She believes in the power of “write, listen, improve”, an approach she shares with her students and fellow miners alike.
She explained ‘’In Social Mining, we are challenged to research a number of topics, and it can be on short notice but then we are provided with strategies and guidance on how to boost our writing skills and visibility’’
Learning from other social miners, such as MetaJR, Marpaci, Skelz and Victoria, has helped her hone her skills and adapt to the rapid pace of the crypto space.
The Role of Educators in the Web3 Revolution
Zoe firmly believes that teachers have a unique role in the Web3 space. With their natural inclination for continuous learning and skill development, educators can help clarify blockchain for students, parents, and even decision makers.
‘’The world as we older generation know it will disappear very soon I think - as teachers, I firmly believe it is our duty to learn about all these changes, including the revolutions brought on by blockchain, AI and cryptocurrencies.’’
She added, ‘’So we can prepare our children for the upheaval facing the world. Additionally, Social Mining may be the best way to step into the world of crypto, because rather than buying cryptocurrencies, we earn them.’’
As she puts it, Social Mining could be a lifeline for educators worldwide, providing new income and a chance to shape the future!
Educating Montenegro on Blockchain and AI
Living in Montenegro, Zoe recognizes the significant knowledge gap surrounding Web3, AI, and blockchain, even among the younger generation. In her classroom, she often asks students what they know about these technologies and finds their understanding limited.
As she notes, “We simply must embark on a larger mission of education, not just for our own sakes but because this is truly the next stage in economy, business and education.”
She is determined to change that by introducing all that topics to her students and raising awareness among her teaching colleagues
What’s Next for Zoe?
Zoe is at a crossroads, balancing her roles as a full-time teacher, business owner, and Social Miner. With a growing dedication to Social Mining, she’s considering shifting her focus toward broader community education, where her impact can expand beyond the classroom.
In her words, “The clock is ticking, and I feel a mission to go wider and deeper, sharing this knowledge of blockchain with as many people as possible.”
As she works to bring Social Mining to Montenegro, she remains optimistic about the future. The next step? To help create a supportive network for students, educators, and working professionals alike. Her dream of a Balkans Langchat could well be the first of many steps in that direction!
‘’That's what I absolutely hope to do - Montenegro needs to wake up to blockchain technology's existence and I personally believe Social Mining represents a huge opportunity for both the student body and the working class. So many of us need a side hustle and Social Mining is simply perfect!’’ she added.
In a world increasingly shaped by technology, the role of educators is more crucial than ever. By embracing the opportunities offered by blockchain and Social Mining, we can inspire the next generation to thrive in the digital landscape and create a brighter future for all!
