In this article, Selim or also known as Sdodyed shares his story, offering insight into the motivations and experiences that shape his contributions to the Social Mining community.

A Glimpse into Sdodyed’s World

Selim, who was born in İzmir and currently resides in Balıkesir, in Turkey, leads a life that is both demanding and rewarding. 

‍As he shares, "I’m married with two wonderful children: a 7-year-old son named Yunusemre and a 2-year-old daughter named Sare, who are both incredibly mischievous. When I come home from work, it’s like starting a second shift. I work in a highly stressful environment, and the days just fly by."

Despite the exhaustion that comes with his job, Selim finds time to unwind with his family, often spending evenings at the park when the weather is nice. His hobbies include keeping up with financial markets and swimming, activities that help him recharge amidst his busy schedule.

A Journey Through the Crypto Landscape

Selim’s journey into crypto space began in 2015, sparked by curiosity and a desire to explore new financial opportunities. Reflecting on his early days;

‍He notes, "Like many others, I initially followed influencers blindly. Without understanding the projects, I invested my savings in whatever they suggested. They were selling us nothing but junk, and the result was, of course, disappointment. I tried to make quick money, but it failed"

Unfortunately, his approach led to disappointments, as many of those investments did not yield the expected returns. However, these experiences taught Selim valuable lessons, prompting him to shift his strategy toward more researched and informed decisions.

‍"Later on, I started researching and investing in projects that I tracked," he explains, though even with this more measured approach, challenges remained. 

His introduction to Social Mining came through a close friend, @heymen33, who offered him a new perspective on the crypto world. The flexibility and informal nature of Social Mining immediately appealed to Selim, providing him with a way to stay engaged in the crypto space on his own terms.

Balancing Family and Social Mining

Managing the demands of a job, family life, and Social Mining is a delicate balance that Selim navigates with determination.  

‍"To be honest, I can’t devote much time to social mining. I have a family that I’m responsible for, so I need to work until a certain hour," he says, highlighting the challenges of fitting Social Mining into his packed schedule. 

Despite these limitations, He has found a way to integrate Social Mining into his daily routine, often dedicating time to it after his children have gone to sleep. 

‍However, I believe it will be perfect for me in retirement," he adds, looking forward to a time when he can engage more fully with the community. 

For now, Selim draws motivation from the DAOLabs Turkey group, a community that he describes as a "sweet social miner family" whose support pushes him to strive harder, even with limited time.

Learning from Role Models

In the Social Mining community, Selim has found inspiration in the work of others, particularly those who excel in areas he aspires to improve. 

"If I could write like İpek @nipek or create visuals like Meta @MetaverseJR, no one could compete with me!" he remarks, expressing admiration for their skills. 

He emphasises Social Mining to nurturing a baby, emphasizing the importance of thorough research and effective presentation. He understands that no matter how knowledgeable you are, the ability to communicate that knowledge through words and visuals is crucial.

Embracing Trends and Staying Authentic

Selim believes in the value of examining these trends, understanding their strengths and weaknesses, and using that knowledge to improve his own contributions. 

‍"We shouldn’t shy away from popular trends," he advises, adding that such trends can offer valuable insights that can be leveraged for better project development. 

‍‘’When you consider your interest in crypto and the economic freedom it can offer, it drives you to work even harder," he shares, highlighting how his passion ensures that his contributions remain true to his values.

For him, Social Mining is more than just a hobby, it's a pathway to achieving long-term financial independence. 

‍"My goal, of course, is to achieve financial independence, provide better living conditions for my family, and spend more time with them," he states, underscoring the motivation behind his efforts.

Looking to the Future of Social Mining

As he looks to the future, he is excited about the potential of new projects within the Social Mining ecosystem. 

"As a social miner, introducing a new project, helping it grow, and building its community is, in my opinion, the most exciting thing," he says, expressing a desire to be involved from the ground up. 

While many of the projects he currently works with are well-established, Selim is eager to contribute to the early stages of a new venture. The newly announced RWA project has particularly caught his attention. 

‍"Contributing to the growth of a project that hasn’t even had its TGE yet feels like raising a child," he explains, drawing a parallel between nurturing a project and the care and attention required to raise a child.

From his early experiences of blindly following influencers to becoming a thoughtful and informed contributor, Selim has navigated the challenges of the crypto world with determination and a focus on growth. His story highlights the importance of balancing personal commitments with professional passions, and it underscores the value of community, continuous learning, and authentic engagement in achieving success.
