Abhishek Patidar: Balancing Farming, Social Mining, and Reshaping Economic Prospects in India
Introduction
The story we’re bringing you on this blog is a shining example of the potential for personal growth and career development, within not only the world of Social Mining but Web3 in general. Abhishek Patidar’s journey from a small Indian village to becoming an active member of DAOVERSE demonstrates the transformative power of digital employment opportunities.
In a recent interview, Abhishek shared his experiences highlighting how he successfully balances life as a farmer, Web3 enthusiast and Social Miner while navigating the economic challenges faced by many young generations in India.
A Unique Background
Being just 20 years old, this natural from the Indian village of Molyakhedi pursued his education at Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore college. Despite facing personal and financial challenges that led to a pause in his formal education, Abhishek's life took an unique turn. This enthusiastic farmer transformed himself into a full-time Web3 enthusiast, a passionate gamer and cricket player. His story is one of resilience, determination, and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
“I am from a middle class family. Throughout the day, I continue to manage the farm's activities, but during breaks or when I have a moment, I actively engage in Twitter and Telegram chats. I use my smartphone to draft tweets or content and see updates about the new tasks. Balancing these two roles may seem challenging, but it's a harmonious blend of tradition and technology. It allows me to celebrate the beauty of rural life while also participating in the global conversations as a Social Miner. My dual identity as a farmer and a Social Miner enriches both my offline and online worlds, providing me with a sense of fulfilment and community.”
Too often we lose our connection with nature and together with it, our respect towards our planet. We are more and more projected on technology and all the devices, which represents the future, but Abhishek’s story reminds us of the natural, crucial need to spend time in "the real world" for our psychophysical wellness.
Challenges of Economic Reality
Abhishek's journey reflects the broader economic challenges prevalent in India. The rising cost of living has made it increasingly difficult for individuals to secure jobs that provide both financial security and dignity. Basic necessities such as housing, food, education, and healthcare are becoming more burdensome on family budgets.
“In my country - Abhishek shares - common economic challenges include high inflation, job market competitiveness, income inequality, costly education, healthcare expenses, and rural-urban disparities. These factors are impacting financial stability and access to essential services. The rising cost of living has made it increasingly difficult for individuals to secure jobs that provide both financial security and dignity. Basic necessities such as housing, food, education, and healthcare are becoming more burdensome on family budgets.”
“Finding a job that allows people to live in dignity - he continues - has become increasingly challenging in India due to the rising cost of living. Securing a job that not only covers the essential costs but also provides a comfortable standard of living is a demanding task really. It often requires individuals to acquire specific skills, seek higher-paying positions, and carefully manage their finances to maintain a sense of dignity in the face of these economic challenges. This issue also happened with my Uncle. They were living in Indore, but due to these expenses they had to come to our village.”
The Role of Social Mining in Abhishek’s life
Abhishek's entry into the world of Social Mining, in late 2022, is a testament to the transformative potential of this digital landscape, and at the beginning it was not without its challenges.
“Entering the project brought significant changes to my life. The cultural preference for traditional office work in my community was deeply ingrained. However, my involvement in the project challenged these norms. It required adapting to remote and digital work, which opened up new worlds. This shift allowed me to explore opportunities beyond the confines of traditional employment, fostering personal growth and expanding my career prospects. My participation in the project served as a catalyst for change, not only in my life but also in the perception of alternative work paths within my community.”
Social Mining offers remote, flexible job opportunities, enabling individuals to engage in online content creation, social media management, and digital marketing. This digital work environment can help address unemployment issues by fostering skill development, entrepreneurship, and advocacy. It opens up new career prospects and empowers individuals to shape their own economic destinies.
“Social Mining can be a valuable contributor to addressing unemployment in my country. It creates digital job opportunities, allowing individuals to engage in online content creation, social media management, and digital marketing. These roles can be performed remotely and flexibly ( like I do Social Mining while farming ), offering employment flexibility. Moreover, Social Mining encourages skill development in areas like digital marketing, data analysis, and content creation, enhancing employability. It also fosters entrepreneurship as individuals can build online businesses and personal brands, potentially creating jobs for others. Lastly, it promotes awareness and advocacy, drawing attention to unemployment issues and potentially leading to policy changes. Overall, Social Mining offers a multifaceted approach to combating unemployment.”
